About us

A Dutch manufacturer with a long track record

Intercell is made by Priema BV, a metal manufacturing company based in Hoevelaken in the Netherlands. Priema was founded in 1986 and has spent the decades since building a reputation as one of the most capable precision sheet metal manufacturers in Europe.

The company specialises in deep drawing, stamping, welding, finishing, and the assembly of complex metal components. Its clients come from some of the most demanding industries in the world — including automotive, defence, offshore, rail, and petrochemical. The standards those industries require have shaped the way Priema works at every level of the business.

Intercell began as an in-house product development project. Priema had the metalworking expertise and the production capability; the modular floor system gave those capabilities a practical application in the built environment. The system was registered as a trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office in 2003 and has been developed and refined ever since.

Our facilities

Three locations, one approach to quality

Priema operates three production facilities. The head office and main manufacturing site is at Zuiderinslag 22 in Hoevelaken. A second facility, Priema Cetra, operates from De Nieuwe Haven 10 in Hardenberg. A third production site is based in Břeclav in the Czech Republic. All three sites work to the same quality standards, audited and certified to international norms.

certificates

ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that indicates what a good environmental management system should meet. Priema Cetra’s environmental management system is certified according to this standard.

ISO 9001

ISO 9001: 2008 is a standard that sets requirements for an organisation’s quality management system. ISO 9001 emphasizes customer satisfaction and the ensuing quality assurance and continuous improvement. Priema has had the ISO 9001 certificate since 1996.

ISO 3834

The ISO 3834-2 certificate guarantees all quality requirements of qualified welding for clients within Priema BV. ISO 3834-2 is an international quality assurance system for fusion welding processes. Welding is a special process that involves many risks. It is therefore logical that our clients set requirements for this. The certification is almost always required by clients in all markets such as defense, offshore, automotive, rail infrastructure and the petrochemical industry. Within our quality system, the tasks and responsibilities surrounding welding work are clear. A prominent role in this is performed by a welding coordinator. The tasks of the welding coordinator relate to determining the correct welding methods, welding qualifications, preparation, production, coordination, equipment, traceability, process monitoring, inspection and control of the welding process. With the ISO 3834-2 certificate, Priema meets the strictest criteria within this standard and therefore also meets all ISO 3834 requirements of our clients for black steel, non-ferrous and aluminum welding.

IATF 16949

IATF 16949 is based on ISO 9001 and has been supplemented with sector specific requirements to structurally ensure correct prioritization and to achieve a process of continuous improvement using a number of proven methods. The ultimate goal of IATF 16949 is to increase delivery reliability and decrease the cost level throughout the chain by continuously improving quality, effectiveness and efficiency. The branches in Hoevelaken and Hardenberg are certified according to this standard.

Production

What Priema actually makes

Beyond the Intercell floor system, Priema produces a wide range of precision sheet metal components for industrial clients. The company is particularly well known for its deep drawing capability — forming complex three-dimensional shapes from flat sheet steel, from simple cylindrical parts to more complex rectangular and asymmetric profiles. This breadth of capability means Priema can take a product from raw material through to finished assembly without involving outside suppliers, which keeps quality consistent and lead times short.

FAQ

Who is behind Intercell?

Intercell is developed, manufactured, and supplied by Priema BV, a Dutch metal manufacturer founded in 1986 and based in Hoevelaken. The system was registered as a European trademark in 2003 and is one of several products Priema produces alongside its industrial work for clients in automotive, defence, offshore, and rail.

Why is a metalworking company producing a flooring system?

Intercell grew out of Priema's existing expertise. The modular floor panels rely on the same deep drawing, stamping, welding, and finishing processes used to make precision components for some of Europe's most demanding industries. The result is a built-environment product engineered to industrial tolerances rather than typical construction ones.

Where is Intercell manufactured?

All Intercell production runs through Priema's own facilities — the head office and main site in Hoevelaken, a second location in Hardenberg, and a third in Břeclav in the Czech Republic. Nothing is outsourced. Every panel comes from a site working to the same ISO and IATF-certified quality standards.

Can we visit the production facility?

Yes. We regularly host architects, contractors, and end clients at the Hoevelaken site to walk through the manufacturing process and see panels being produced. Get in touch through the contact form below to arrange a visit.

Does Priema B.V. only produces for Intercell?

No. Intercell is one part of a much wider production output. Most of what Priema makes goes to industrial clients, deep-drawn components, welded assemblies, stamped parts, and complete sub-assemblies for automotive, defence, offshore, rail, and petrochemical applications. That broader manufacturing base is what gives Intercell its production depth, quality consistency, and short lead times.
